Business as Usual? More like Business Unusual.

The philosophy of olsenHaus is anchored in the universal truth, respect for all beings, with a dedication to the expression of  truth in the material world. We are committed to being 100% animal-free / cruelty-free, producing functional goods, with a high standard of ethical social responsibility in animal rights, human rights, and  the environment. Products are made of non-animal materials, in sample rooms and factories that are personally checked for ethical practices & environmental impact.

We are continually seeking out affordable and innovative methods that lessen the impact of our products. We are pushing factories and suppliers for more recycled materials and safer processes. We also actively aim to educate through our products. We encourage accountability, and welcome feedback.

While many shoes kill, pollute, and destroy lives and ecosystems on their journey to your feet, we recognize these destructive production practices and do not consider them 'business as usual'. We at Olsenhaus believe these processes can evolve toward a respect for animals, ecosystems  and people.

Olsenhaus is aware of the impact of consumerism on animals and the environment—and while some designer brands are making "additional lines" that are marketed towards the eco-conscious to capitalize on the trend, while still maintaining a leather line, Olsenhaus is 100% Vegan and always will be.

We believe in a higher level of consciousness with peace and light for all beings.

CO N C E P T :

Consciousness – the new hip Olsenhaus is 100% cruelty–free, using only non-animal materials that are environmentally friendly.
The concept of Olsenhaus is to showcase alternative materials that are clever, sophisticated, fun and on trend, while promoting consciousness through example and education. What the goods are made of, why, and attention to the impact on the environment, animals and people. In addition, Olsenhaus works to change the face of what a vegan person looks like. It is not the 60’s, it is hip and stylish to be knowledgeable about what is going on, and work to make a difference, without sacrifices. It is all about style, truth, and the shift in consciousness to a new luxury.

As a child, Elizabeth always wondered about meat, she had an innate feeling that something was wrong. At age 15, she read
about the horrific cruelty that was happening to animals, from factory farming, vivisection, fur farms, how cruel wool is, circuses, including the waste and careless damage being done to the environment. To spread the word , Elizabeth co-founded an animal rights club in High School. Overcome by the cruelty and horror, she did not want to not contribute to these atrocities, and therefore has been a vegetarian and now vegan for the last 21 years.

It is inhumane and unacceptable how animals are treated within our society. Many live in filthy cages their entire lives, where they are deformed, crippled, diseased, tortured, beaten, skinned alive, castrated, electrocuted, raped, and driven insane. They are being exploited for their skin, body parts, used for entertainment as well as being experimented on.

It is unacceptable that any life is treated as an economic unit. It is unacceptable that the public is being lied to. Nutritional guide lines which are endorsed by the USDA and taught to us as children, are written by members of the meat and dairy industry, who reap a profit from increased consumer support.

There are plenty of resources for educating oneself regarding the manipulation of the public, and nutritional information such as how much protein the body actually needs, and informs on how a vegan diet is not only the most optimum for the body, but also the planet.

We are all energy, everything is interconnected. We are evolutionarily, morally, and spiritually linked to the animal kingdom. How
animals are treated under our dominion is a reflection of mankind’s evolutionary state. There is a connection between all life forms, and when one being suffers, we all suffer consciously and subconsciously. The culmination of all this suffering and negative energy in our collective consciousness creates more suffering, war, disease and separation from our true selves.

The idea that animals are of a lower consciousness, is a human conception existing for man’s own advantage. Study after study has shown that animals have the exact same needs as humans. They need food, shelter, love and companionship. The love of their young, the need for freedom, recognition of self, and organized social order. They express emotions such as happiness, joy and love, as well as grief and loneliness. They have central nervous systems and therefore feel pain as we do. They have a right to live their lives as we do, and not as captives, slaves, food, clothing or entertainment for mankind.

“The animals of the world exist for their own reasons. They were not made for humans any more than black people were made for whites, or women for men.” ~ Alice Walker

“Put a small child in a playpen with an apple and a bunny. If they eat the apple and play with the bunny, they are normal, but if they eat the bunny, and play with the apple, I’ll buy you a new car. Somewhere along the line we must have been TAUGHT to do the wrong thing”. ~ Maynard
